Jeremy Moskowitz founded PolicyPak Software after working with hundreds of customers with the same problem they couldn’t manage their applications, browsers and operating systems using the technology they already utilized.
Cloudy with a Chance of Control
We recently released a new PolicyPak Cloud feature that enables you to point-and-click to specify ADMX settings, without having to pre-create and upload them first. This is an amazing new breakthrough that we are excited to bring to the PolicyPak Cloud solution. With just one click, you implement any ADMX setting for Windows or Office; then deploy the setting to your domain joined or non-domain joined machines.
With PolicyPak Cloud, there are no production on-prem systems to install and no MDM required.
PolicyPak Cloud Edition has always enabled admins to deploy ALL of PolicyPak’s special settings and also Microsoft’s Group Policy settings. But the recent innovation is removing the need to pre-create the ADMX settings first and uploading them.
Target systems can be on-prem, on-the-go, domain joined or non-domain joined machines.
Furthermore, PolicyPak Cloud delivers settings to client computers, applications and desktops via our cloud server. This is especially beneficial to organizations that have both domain joined and non-domain joined machines, employees who travel with laptops and tablets, and those who want a central way to deliver settings across a distributed network. Every PolicyPak Cloud Edition license automatically includes a PolicyPak Group Policy Edition license, giving you the ability to deliver, enforce and lock-down your settings when computers are in the office and well connected.
Now, to share a bit more about this new functionality, our founder and CTO, Jeremy Moskowitz, answered a few of our customers’ most asked questions. Check it out.
Q: Is this all of the Admin Templates, Windows, Control Panel, and system stuff / ADMX items I would see as if I was inside the GPMC?
A: Yes.
Q: Where are Security node settings?
A: Only ADMX settings are supported; the Security node is coming soon and we’re working on an editor for that too.
Q: Do I need to update my PolicyPak Cloud client or PolicyPak Cloud Client Side Extension in any way?
A: No.
Q: What versions of Office do you have ADMX settings for?
A: We have ADMX settings for Office 2007 – 2016. And when 2019 comes out, we’ll update it for you automatically.
Q: How do customers keep the ADMX files up to date when Windows has more settings?
A: We do it for you for Windows, Office and PolicyPak ADMX settings.
Q: What about Custom ADMX, like Acrobat and Chrome? Can I upload those myself?
A: Not yet, but we are working on it. We’ll share more when that is available.
Q: Will all policy types eventually be editable within PolicyPak Cloud?
A: Yes, that is the goal. That said, PolicyPak Application Manager will never be supported. You will always need some kind of admin station to make those policies, export them, and upload them.
Q: Can I edit previously uploaded PolicyPak Admin Template settings using the PolicyPak Cloud editor?
A: Yes. If you encounter trouble, please open a support ticket so we can fix it.
Q: How are users and groups supported within Item Level Targeting in cloud?
A: Basically the same way. If you know the SID of the group or user, you place it into the SID box. If the SID is not known, the Item Level Targeting engine does its best to evaluate by name, but it’s not guaranteed.
