How to Avoid Java 11 License Cost
In January 2019, Oracle provided the last public update of Java 8. This change introduced a Java 11 license cost and made it more difficult for administrators to implement Java updates. Today, administrators who install Java 8 U 202 and later are only able to obtain security updates when they purchase commercial support for each desktop; without commercial support, Java Runtime Environment clients may stop working. Additionally, “modern” versions of Java, like Java 11 and above, are only available from Oracle under a commercial support agreement. Fortunately, PolicyPak Java Rules Manager quickly and easily creates a Java Enterprise Deployment Rule Set (DRS) on Windows endpoint machines. This tool allows you to leverage older Java versions and prevents you from incurring Java 11 license costs.
